Tulips
Please note that the tulip bulbs we supply are of the top size available, which is 12+ cm, except for species tulips & a very few (usually new) varieties where 11/12 is the only available size. This is particularly important when you are comparing not just price, but also the superior display that a 12+ cm bulb will produce (Blom's gold medal winning displays at Chelsea use 12+ sized bulbs). Quoting 'top sized bulb' is not enough - you need to ask what size that actually is, before making comparisons. If no size is quoted, you can assume it is either 11/12 or even smaller.
We offer border tulips in a minimum quantity of 10, to accommodate those with smaller gardens and to allow new varieties to be tried out. We do strongly recommend, however, that, wherever possible, you plant in larger numbers for real impact.

Tulipa 'Lady van Eijk'
Bright pink flowers, with a touch of lilac on the outside of the petals. A super, strong colour for a tulip, with all the reliability & vigour of Darwin breeding. Flowering in April/early May at 20" (50cm).

Tulipa 'Light & Dreamy'
This beautiful new tulip won many public votes for most popular tulip at the Wisley trials in spring 2014. The flowers have a pink base with mauve flaming, fading to near white at the petal tips.The flower centres glow rose pink and the stems are dark. Mesmerisingly lovely.

Tulipa 'Mystic Van Eijk'
Gorgeous, salmon-rose pink blends, with a hint of green. The darker centre really ‘lights up’ the flowers with an inner glow. Darwin tulip flowering in April-May at 20” (50cm)

Tulipa 'Orange Balloon'
New in 2021
Since 'Orangezon' became unavailable some years ago, we have been searching for a suitable replacement. 'Orange Balloon' has the same large flowers and rich colouring, making for a wonderful doppelganger. We grew it in large pots by our front door this spring, gaining many a 'wow' from visitors - our postlady was particularly fulsome in her praise.

Tulipa 'Pink Impression'
New in 2021
This is the wonderful pink tulip used to great effect at Arundel Castle (the first garden to be featured in Carol Klein's new 'Great British Gardens' series). The blooms are huge and a lovely, warm pink. We were at the Castle earlier this year and photographed the display then.

Tulipa 'Salmon Impression'
We chose this variety as a substitute for 'Apricot Beauty' last year (now available again) and were so impressed with its lovely dreamy, ethereal quality that we are offering it again this season. 'Salmon Impression' additionally brings the reliability of its Darwin heritage to the party. Flowering in April at 24" (60cm).

Tulipa 'Copper Image'
Warm copper-rose tones and fully double blooms make for a wonderful double early flowering tulip. It is also pictured here with 'Amazing Grace', which makes a great planting partner, flowering at the same time and height. This year, we also tried it in terracotta pots with the taller 'Slawa', which has the same copper-rose tone at the edges of its darker blooms - a fantastic combination! Flowering...

Many-petalled flowers of palest apple-blossom pink. A beautiful new variety, excellent for borders, containers and for cutting. Flowering in April at 14" (32.5cm).

Tulipa 'Foxtrot'
We introduced this variety to the UK quite a few years ago, after being bowled over by it at Keukenhof. We subsequently supplied bulbs to Gardening 'Which' for their bulb trials, where it won a 'Best Buy' award.The double flowers are in warm tones of pink/rose/white and are held up beautifully on strong stems. It is a little taller than most tulips in this group. Flowering in April at 16" (40cm)

Tulipa 'La Belle Epoque'
Softly double flowers of an arrestingly unusual salmon-pink. Blends well with other tulips in the peach/copper/old rose colour range and, for a contrast, we use the darker (and slightly shorter) 'Antraciet'.
