Dahlia 'Red Labyrinth'
Dahlia 'Labyrinth' has gained many admirers since we first introduced it into the UK a few years ago. This red version has the same loose, informal shape to its flowers and the same slight twist to the petals which proved so beguiling in the original. It is also a good, clear shade of red, with neither blue nor orange tones.

This recent introduction really caught our eye in the Dutch trial fields, for the clarity of colour of the attractively formed red flowers and the contrast with the dark stems. A hint of green in the eye of the flower added to the overall effect.

Dahlia 'Honka Dark' (Honka Black)
There is a suspicion that 'Honka Dark' and 'Verrone's Obsidian' may be one and the same. It will take DNA testing to reveal the truth but it was noticeable that the plants we grew of 'Honka Black' did appear slightly taller and the petals a little less furled than those of 'Verrones Obsidian'. (not available this season). So, not much to call between them, but both excellent and unusual garden...
Dahlia 'Bohemian Spartacus'
This extravagant sport of 'Spartacus' sports bold yellow splashes on its petals. We have been looking at this variety for a couple of years now and the flower markings do seem to be nicely consistent.
