One of the newer, so-called  'Coronet'  or 'Crown' tulips. We have to confess to not liking all the introductions which have been made in this group - the shape can be untidy in some manifestations. Following in the footsteps of the popular established varieties 'Picture' & 'White Liberstar', is this rich red version of the crown tulip. The unique shape of this form of tulip results in flowers with extra thick petals, which are both robust and long-lasting. We first encountered this stunning tulip in Holland back in 2015, long before it was commercially available. We are delighted to have had stock for the last few seasons. The outsides of the petals are the very palest silver-lilac imaginable but open to reveal a more complex inner, with deeper, painterly tones of lilac suffusing from a violet-blue base and near-black anthers. Flowers of phlox pink, fading to nearly white at the edges, are strongly flamed with fresh green. The leaves are banded silver-white.
