There is a suspicion that 'Honka Dark' and 'Verrone's Obsidian' may be one and the same. It will take DNA testing to reveal the truth but, in growing them on the nursery and in our borders over the last few years, we have not perceived any difference. And now for something completely different.......This could well be the marmite of the dahlia world but for us it is a wonderful addition to a hot or exotic border. The unique flowers sit atop stems which are tall enough to let it sit towards the back of a planting scheme, or it could be allowed to mingle amongst large-leaved 'jungle' plants (we already have it earmarked for the 'hot' side of our Barn...
