NEW IN 2025 British bred waterlily type, with stunning flowers of bright rose-red, with a lighting flash of yellow at the flower centres. Brings a real 'wow' factor to borders and its strong stems make it an excellent candidate for cutting. There is a suspicion that 'Honka Dark' and 'Verrone's Obsidian' may be one and the same. It will take DNA testing to reveal the truth but it was noticeable that the plants we grew of 'Honka Black' did appear slightly taller and the petals a little less furled than those of 'Verrones Obsidian'.  (not available this season). So, not much to call between them, but both excellent and unusual garden...

If you love the dark flowered dahlias, like 'Chat Noir' or 'Black Jack', but need something of smaller stature, this could be the answer.  'Tamburo is a scaled-down version of those dramatic giants and eminently more suited to front of border plantings.
