The choice in white allums is far more restricted than for purple flowered varieties, so a new variety is always worth a look. And 'White Cloud' (now often marketed as 'Ping Pong"!) is distinctly different from longer-established whites, with its very tightly packed flowerheads and later flowering time. The attractive, pointed flower buds open with a pink tinge before turning ivory white. Flowering in mid-summer at around 32" (80cm).
