Rose Cottage Plants does not produce a printed catalogue, for a number of reasons.
We believe it is important to our customers that the products they are buying are accurately represented. It is not possible to achieve trueness of colour of flowers through the limitations of a 4-colour printing process. All the printed catalogues we see bear this out and, unfortunately, this is sometimes used as an excuse for blatant 'colour enhancement'. All the images we use to promote our products are our own, mostly taken on our nursery, so that we are able to cross-check the images which appear on our website with the actual blooms.
A printed catalogue quickly becomes out of date. Products sell out, some may become unavailable, others added, after the catalogue has been printed.. On-line, we can react to these issues instantly, so that visitors to our website are always being presented with up-to-date information.
The significant costs involved in producing catalogues are inevitably reflected in the cost of the end product. By managing our website in-house on a day-to-day basis, we are able to keep our prices very competitive.
We know that some customers do still prefer to browse a printed catalogue and may be disappointed that we do not produce one. However, we think, for the reasons given above, that ordering from a catalogue can also give rise to disappointment!
