Rehmannia angulata Many spikes of deep pink foxglove-like flowers cover the plant from June until Sept, making a pleasingly spreading, bushy shape. Half-hardy perennial (lift & overwinter under cover). Sun/part shade. Ht 30” (75cm). Spread 24” (60cm).

Rhodochiton atrosanguineum Climber with toothed, evergreen leaves and unusual dark maroon-purple tubular flowers with lighter, red-purple, bell-shaped calyces. Long flowering period, from late spring - autumn. Not frost hardy, so overwinter under cover or treat as annual. Sunny position and free-draining soil. Ht. to 10’ (3m).

Rhodochiton atrosanguineum Evergreen climber bearing striking black/purple flowers with purple/red calyces from late spring to late autumn. Frost tender, so usually grown as an annual. Ht. to 10’ (3m).

Roscoea beesiana Summer flowering tuber with exotic, orchid-like flowers of palest creamy-yellow and broad, upright, lance-shaped foliage. Needs sun/part shade and moist soil in summer. Hardy. Ht.6-10” (15-25cm).

Rudbeckia occidentalis ‘Green Wizard’ Curiously attractive variety, loved by flower arrangers and for ‘prairie’ plantings. The conical, yellow-ringed black centre is fringed by green bracts. HP for sun & fertile, moist soil. Ht.40” (100cm) or more. Spread 2’ (60cm) or more.

Rumex sanguineus Stunning foliage plant, the strongly red-veined leaves impressive in the border. Green flower spikes in summer turning russet. HP for sun/part shade. Ht. to 3’ (90cm) Spread 12” (30cm).
